"The practice of covering crosses and images throughout the Church from the Fifth Sunday of Lent is permitted. Crosses remain covered until the end of the Celebration of the Lord's Passion on Good Friday; but images remain covered until the beginning of the Easter Vigil.” (Fifth Sunday of Lent, Roman Missal, third typical edition)

Sharing of Sem. Jayvie BenzonApril 7, 2019 (Fifth Sunday of Lent) Phil 3:8-14 When you truly love a person, it is easy to say that you know his/her favourite food... you know his/her favourite color. You know when and how to make him/her happy. But sometimes that does not make our relationship deeper. Masasabi ba natin na kilala na natin ang isang tao kung alam na natin ang gusto at ayaw niya? Brothers in our time today, knowing someone is no longer deep and personal. Ang iba nakikilala lang natin sa pangalan o mukha. We sometimes fail to recognize him/her as a brother or a sister in Christ. In our day to day life, did we really meet, find or see Jesus? Our knowledge of Jesus can be deepened through our relationship and conversation with others. (Ang mga binibisita namin sa ospital at sa ‘balay taripato’ ay isa sa mga nagpapakita sa amin ng totoong pagmamahal at totoong pananampalataya... we learned from their experiences in life. They lead us to a deeper relationship with God because of their authentic experience with the Grace of God. Palagi ko itong kinukwento na, February 14, 2019 was the best Valentine’s Day ever in my life. I received a gift! Sweeter than chocolate. Pinasaya namin sila that time pero mas pinasaya nila ako. Their gratitude is expressed not in words but in their actions. Alam niyo kung ano ang ginawa nila? Niyakap at hinalikan kami... Oo ramdam mo... nabasa nga agek ni lola ken ni lolo. Nabasa ngem pudno nga ayat. I consider it as a gift and a prize of choosing Him (Jesus). As St. Paul says, “everything seems to me, as nothing compared with the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord.” Choosing the path of the priesthood needs sacrifice. Hindi ako nagsisisi sa pagsunod sa kanya. I take it as a way to know Jesus more and more. After our graduation in my Business course, others’ planned to take their examination to become a Certified Financial Analyst... but I chose a different track... I’m CFA too... Christ Follower Applicant. But that is not easy because I need to choose firmly... “Andaming pagpipilian, ang daming nagsasabi magtrabaho ka nalang para matulongan mo ang iyong mga magulang.” “Mabalin ka met nga agtrabaho ti bangko ta adda met itsuram”... “sayang ag- abroad ka laengen”... But God’s calling and my knowledge of Christ are greater that’s why I’m here. But the question is, in my 7 years in the seminary did I gain the deeper knowledge about Christ? What I know about him... My Knowledge about Christ is deepened every day. But my relationship with him became intimate when I was in the Spiritual Formation Year. Thirty day retreat is one way to know Jesus intimately. It is easy for me to say that madali lang pumasok sa 30 day retreat kasi sanay na ako sa breathing exercises and at home na ako sa silence. But when I was there I suddenly realized that I must be patient in waiting for me to enter in a deeper level of prayer. I strived with more effort to know him but as if nothing happened. I failed to recognize Jesus because of my own baggage that I am carrying. As if I was the only one caring the load... but I am not alone. Jesus is with me. My personal relationship with Jesus only happened when I began to open myself to him and for him. Knowing Jesus does not happen over night. It is built through constant communication with him. It is a lifetime commitment. My knowledge of Christ is far greater and happier when I allow his grace to be with me. Like St. Paul, My journey is still in the process...“Diak kunaen a nagballaiginakon wenno awanen ti pagkurangak. Ngem itultuloy ko nga ikabil iti amin a kabaelak a manggun-od ti gunggona.” Dayta a gunggona ket ni Kristo.. Like St. Paul, we must also be clear that our final Goal is Jesus. “He moved forward in life with courage because he knows his goal”. He conquered everything in his life because of his intimate relationship with Jesus. Our present is God.. Our future is to be with God. Everything we have and everything we do must be in accordance with God’s will. All of these must help us to attain that goal- JESUS. O Panginoong Hesus Ikaw lang sapat na!. Amen! ...
